Registration for the LSPA Fall Invitational will open September 8, 2025 and continue through October 10 or until available seats are taken. This competition has limited seats and will fill quickly. Each school can bring up to 5 students. Information will be updated on this website page by September 8, 2025.

Step Into the Action of Student Media

The Louisiana Scholastic Press Association (LSPA) Fall Invitational is your chance to experience the thrill of live, on-the-spot competitions while learning from LSU’s top journalism and media experts.

This one-day event brings together high school students and advisers from across Louisiana who are passionate about:

  • Writing & reporting
  • Digital marketing & advertising
  • Broadcast journalism
  • Yearbook design & storytelling
  • School newspaper production

Date: Friday, October 17, 2025
Time: 8:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (Lunch Included)
(Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m., Competition kicks off at 9:00 a.m.)
Location: LSU Journalism Building, 144 Field House Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70803

What to Expect

  • Live Rotating Competitions: Test your skills with real-world prompts in writing, photography, video, and more—revealed on the spot.
  • Faculty-Led Feedback: LSU Manship School faculty will serve as live judges, offering professional insights you can use right away.
  • Behind-the-Scenes Tour: Explore LSU Student Media facilities and see how professional student journalists work.
  • Awards & Recognition: Celebrate your success with a catered lunch, medallion awards, and signed certificates to take back to your school.

Deadline: October 10, 2025 (for conference registration and payment postmark date)


Conference Fees:

$20 administration fee per school
$25 per person (students & advisers)

Payment:
Preferred payment via school check, school board-issued check, or money order made out to LSPA. Once registration form has been submitted, mail payment to:
