Dr. Allie J. Boquet is an Assistant Professor of Professional Practice in the Lutrill & Pearl Payne School of Education at Louisiana State University, where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in the Exceptional Educators Teacher Preparation Program (EETPP) and Integrative Community Studies (ICS) with a focus on evidence-based instructional and behavior practices. Her teaching emphasizes practice-based preparation and data-driven instructional decision-making to prepare future educators to effectively support students with diverse academic, behavioral, and communication needs.
Deeply committed to service, Dr. Boquet advises multiple student organizations, including Exceptional Educators, Best Buddies, and Educators Rising, where she supports outreach, mentorship, and community engagement across Louisiana. She leads the annual Educators Rising Regional Conference, a teacher recruitment initiative, and statewide partnerships with school districts, the Louisiana Department of Education, and community agencies to strengthen the teacher pipeline.
In addition to her work with teacher preparation, Dr. Boquet provides consultation and support to the Integrative Community Studies (ICS) program, offering expertise in curriculum development, transition planning, inclusive postsecondary program design, and the evaluation of evidence-based practices. Through these roles, she collaborates with faculty, state and community partners, and local organizations to expand inclusive educational and workforce opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Her service to the university, state, and profession is extensive. Dr. Boquet serves as the Region 2 State Coordinator for Educators Rising Louisiana, working to strengthen the teacher pipeline in Louisiana in collaboration with other Louisiana universities. Since 2019, she has served as Louisiana’s Team Leader, advocating for special education legislation at the Council for Exceptional Children’s Special Education Legislative Summit (SELS). Nationally, she serves as Policy Advisor Committee Member for the Teacher Education Division (TED) of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). She also serves on editorial boards for Beyond Behavior (BB) and the Journal of the American Academy of Special Education Professionals (JAASEP), where she is Co-Editor-in-Chief. In her editorial and reviewer roles, she supports the dissemination of high-quality scholarship that advances evidence-based practices in special education.
Dr. Boquet’s scholarly work focuses on measuring the implementation fidelity of evidence-based practices, the quality of practitioner articles, recruitment to teacher preparation programs, data-based interventions, and inclusive postsecondary education. She has authored peer-reviewed research and practitioner journal articles, a book chapter, and research-to-practice resources. Her grant leadership includes serving as Co-Principal Investigator on a U.S. Department of Education Transition Programs for Students with Disabilities into Higher Education (TPSID) grant aimed at co-developing industry-based credential curricula and technology for students with intellectual disabilities in the ICS program.
Grounded in a commitment to equitable access, evidence-based practice, and high-quality teacher preparation, Dr. Boquet’s work strengthens Louisiana’s educator competencies and pipeline while expanding inclusive learning and employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
