LSU Educators Rising
What is Educators Rising?
Educators Rising is a national organization dedicated to inspiring and preparing the
next generation of highly skilled educators. It gives middle school, high school and
college students opportunities to explore teaching as a career through hands-on learning
experiences, leadership development and community partnerships.
At LSU, Educators Rising is part of our commitment to developing Louisiana’s teacher
pipeline by empowering future educators to lead classrooms, strengthen schools and
transform their communities.
What is a regional conference?
The Educators Rising Regional Conference is a one-day, on-campus event that brings together high school students, university students in educator preparation programs and education leaders from across the region to experience LSU’s College of Human Sciences & Education and Lutrill & Pearl Payne School of Education.
Through interactive sessions, keynote speakers and campus engagement, students explore what it means to be a teacher, connect with LSU faculty and students and discover pathways into education careers.
The regional conference supports LSU’s Scholarship First Agenda by advancing excellence in education, human development and workforce readiness.
Who should attend?
The LSU Educators Rising Regional Conference welcomes:
- All 9th through 12th grade students who are:
- attending a public or private high school,
- in Region 2, which includes 7 parishes: Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Pointe Coupee, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana
- and at least one of the following conditions are met:
- enrolled in Pre Educator Pathway coursework,
- members of Educators Rising,
- pursuing a career in education after high school
- interested in attending an educator preparation program after high school
This conference is designed for students interested in exploring teaching careers through hands-on sessions and campus experiences.
What schools are in Region 2?
Louisiana’s Educators Rising Region 2 includes school districts located in and around the Baton Rouge area. Participating parishes and districts typically include:
- Ascension Parish Schools
- Central Community Schools
- East Baton Rouge Parish Schools
- East Feliciana Parish Schools
- Iberville Parish Schools
- Pointe Coupee Parish Schools
- Slaughter Community Schools
- West Baton Rouge Parish Schools

Conference Purpose and Goals
The LSU Educators Rising Regional Conference is designed to inspire, prepare and connect the next generation of Louisiana educators. Through meaningful experiences and collaboration, this event supports the LSU Lutrill & Pearl Payne School of Education's goal of preparing the next generation of Louisiana teachers.
Inspire Future Educators
- Cultivate passion for teaching as a purpose-driven and high-impact profession.
- Showcase real stories of teacher leadership and community impact.
- Help students envision their future as educators who change lives.
Explore College and Career Pathways
- Introduce students to LSU’s College of Human Sciences & Education and Lutrill & Pearl Payne School of Education.
- Provide clear guidance on postsecondary pathways, scholarships and educator certification.
- Connect high school students with LSU teacher candidates, advisors and faculty.
Experience Teaching in Action
- Engage students in hands-on, interactive sessions that model evidence-based instructional and behavioral practices.

Begin your day at the historic Huey P. Long Field House. Students and advisors will
check in, receive name tags and meet student and faculty representatives.
9:00 – 9:20 AM | Opening Keynote: “Why I Teach: Building Louisiana’s Future”
Kick off the day with an inspiring message from a Louisiana educator and LSU leaders
who are shaping the next generation of teachers.
9:30 – 11:30 AM | Breakout Session Rotations
Participants will rotate in small groups through interactive sessions in George Peabody
Hall, exploring key areas of the teaching profession. Sessions will be led by LSU
faculty and staff and facilitated by LSU educator preparation students.
A finalized session schedule will be released prior to the conference.
Sessions will focus on interactive teaching experiences and LSU resources available
to educator preparation students.
11:30 AM – 12:30 PM | Lunch & Networking
Enjoy lunch at the Huey P. Long Field House with LSU faculty, students, education
leaders and campus partners.
Participate in informal table conversations with representatives from:
- College of Human Science and Education’s Office of Student Support & Success
- Lutrill & Pearl Payne School of Education faculty and staff members
- LSU Educators Rising and other student organizations
12:30 – 1:00 PM | Closing Session & Send Off
Closing remarks from LSU Educators Rising and LSU leadership.

- All participants must register in advance.
- All students must obtain parental or guardian permission to attend. It is the responsibility of school staff to obtain permission for each student. The following policies apply to student attendance. Advisors should provide the following statements, policy statements and links when gathering permission and consent for the conference.
- Space is limited; register early.
- Advisors register students as a group using the Educators Rising Conference Attendee Information file. See Step 1 under How to Register for details.

Registration Fees
- Students $15 per student.
- Schools with a chaperone-to-student ratio under 1:10 will not be charged for advisor attendance. Contact aboque2@lsu.edu with questions or special circumstances.
How to Register
- Complete the Student Information Form (Excel)
Download and fill out the Educators Rising Conference Attendee Information file for all attendees, students and chaperones from your school or district. This file will include student names, grade levels and contact details for conference planning and lunch accommodations. Download the LSU Photo/Video Release Form and have all students and their parents sign; all attendees, including chaperones, will need to sign as well. - Complete Online Registration
Once your Excel file is complete, open the online
registration link. Respond to the questions and upload the Educators Rising Conference Attendee Information file and LSU Photo/Video Release Form. - Confirmation
After completing registration, you will receive a confirmation email with:- Parking and check-in instructions
- Finalized conference schedule and session details
- Lunch and networking information
Advisors must complete both steps for registration to be finalized.
Lunch and Accommodations
Lunch will be provided for all registered attendees at the Huey P. Long Field House.

About the LSU Lutrill & Pearl Payne School of Education
A school of the LSU College of Human Sciences & Education, the Lutrill & Pearl Payne
School of Education (SOE) offers undergraduate programs for students who want to pursue
a career as a pre-kindergarten through 12th grade teacher or acquire dual certification
in both traditional elementary and special education classrooms. In addition, SOE
offers 3 graduate certificates, 17 master’s degree program areas, 9 EdS certificate
programs, and 2 PhD degrees in 11 areas of focus. SOE’s focus is not only on preparing
highly qualified teachers but also in preparing educational leaders, curriculum studies
scholars, educational technology experts, applied researchers, higher education professionals,
school counselors, and clinical mental health counselors. SOE specializes scholarly

About the College of Human Sciences & Education
The College of Human Sciences & Education (CHSE) is a nationally accredited division
of Louisiana State University. The college is comprised of the School of Education,
the School of Information Studies, the School of Kinesiology, the School of Leadership
& Human Resource Development, and the School of Social Work. CHSE has two model demonstration
schools, the Early Childhood Education Laboratory Preschool, enrolling birth to age
four and the University Laboratory School enrolling Kindergarten through grade 12.
The college also has four centers and institutes: the Early Childhood Education Institute,
the Healthy Aging Research Center, the Leadership Development Institute, and Social
