Biographical Sketch

Dr. Guoqiang Li received his BS., MS., and PhD. degrees in Civil Engineering from Hebei University of Technology, Beijing University of Technology, and Southeast University, respectively. He completed his postdoctoral training in Mechanical Engineering at Louisiana State University (LSU). He is currently the Major Morris S. & DeEtte A. Anderson Memorial Alumni Professor and the holder of the John W. Rhea Jr. Professorship in Engineering in the Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering at LSU. He has previously served as Associate Vice Chancellor/President in the Office of Strategic Initiatives and as Associate Vice Provost in the LSU Graduate School. He is also holding the title of Distinguished Research Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Southern University, Baton Rouge. He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI), the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), and the International Academy of Artificial Intelligence Sciences(AAIS). His research interests span engineering materials, manufacturing, and engineering mechanics. A list of his patents and publications is available on his Google Scholar and Scopus profiles. He currently serves as an Associate Editor for the ASCE Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering, Elsevier’s Cleaner Materials, and Smart Materials and Devices (Science Exploration); as Specialty Editor for “Solid and Structural Mechanics” for Frontiers in Mechanical Engineering; and as an Editorial Board Member for five additional journals. He has received more than 40 awards and recognitions for his research, mentoring, and service.
