LSU Day at the Capitol is an opportunity to highlight how the university delivers on its promise to serve the state.

The highlight of the day was LSU President William F. Tate IV's announcement that LSU’s research campuses in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Shreveport achieved a record-breaking $543 million in combined research activity in the 2023-2024 academic year.

Not only did this lead to life-changing discoveries and support thousands of jobs—the direct economic impact of LSU research on Louisiana is higher than ever, estimated at $1.5 billion.

LSU is building teams that win in Louisiana for the world by:

  • tackling critical challenges through life-changing research across the state;
  • equipping students with the knowledge and tools for successful, meaningful careers;
  • and doing its part to keep Louisiana's best and brightest here at home.
